Tom Glocer

Thomas Henry Glocer ( born October 8, 1959), Tom Glocer, is an American manager and former CEO of global media giant Thomson Reuters.

Under his leadership, was founded by the German Paul Julius Reuter in 1850 news and financial information provider Reuters, whose board he chaired from 2001 to 2008, taken over by the Canadian Thomson Corporation. Thomson Reuters dominates along with Bloomberg LP the market for professional financial information.

Tom Glocer started his career at Reuters in 1993 as Vice President and General Counsel at Reuters America. After he had taken several management positions within the Group, he was elected in July 2001 as Chief Executive Officer. At the turn of 2012, he resigned from the company. He is also a board member of Merck & Co., Inc.

Glocer holds a bachelor 's degree in politics from Columbia University and a Doctor of Law from Yale Law School.

Tom Glocer is married, has two children, lives in New York City and writes his own blog.
