Tom Sermanni

Thomas Dorby Sermanni ( born July 1, 1954 in Glasgow, Scotland ) is a former Scottish football player and was from January 2013 to April 2014 coach of the women's national team of the United States. Previously, he coached several years the Australian national football team of women.

Playing career

Sermanni played as a midfielder in Scotland, England, Australia and New Zealand, among others, for Albion Rovers, Torquay United and Canberra City FC and came to more than 300 missions and scored more than 50 goals.

Coaching career

Sermanni coached several professional men's and women's teams in Australia, Japan, Malaysia and the USA. With its commitment to New York Power he trained, among others, the U.S. national team players Christie Rampone, Shannon Boxx and Tiffeny Milbrett. From 1994 to 1997 and again from 2004 to 2012 he coached the Australian national football team of women. With this, he participated in the World Cups in 1995, 2007 and 2011. In 2010 he won with his team the Asian Cup women after 2006, the second in 2008 and fourth place had already been reached. In qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games and 2012 he failed in each case to North Korea.

Sermanni trained since 1 January 2013, the women's national team of the United States. On February 9, 2013, in charge of the national team for the first time in an international match, which the team won 4-1 against the team seinens native country Scotland. After the disappointing Abschmeiden at the Algarve Cup in 2014, in which the team was already eliminated in the first round, Sermanni would be released in early April 2014.
