Tomáš Hudeček

Tomáš Hudeček, ( born May 10, 1979 in Olomouc ) is a Czech politician of the party TOP 09 He's since June 20, 2013 Mayor of Prague.

Career

Hudeček grew up in his hometown of Olomouc and made here in 1997 the Matura. After studying at the Faculty of Science of the local university to become a teacher of mathematics and geography for the service at the middle school. After graduating, he took a successful doctoral studies Social Geography and Regional Development at the Charles University in Prague.

Politically active Hudeček was 2009, when he joined the newly founded party TOP 09. In the 2010 local elections in which the party TOP 09 could unite the most votes in the capital, he was elected to the city council of the city of Prague. However, his party failed because of an alliance between the ODS and the Social Democrats initially in the opposition. In November 2011, however, broke this coalition government and the incumbent Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda (ODS ) formed an alliance with the vote stronger TOP 09 Hudeček was appointed as Deputy Mayor with responsibility for land-use planning in the Municipality of the Czech capital. Svoboda remained in office.

In May 2013 broke the alliance between the TOP 09 and ODS. The City Council voted on May 23, 2013 from the Acting Mayor Svoboda and two other councilors members of the ODS. Then, remaining in the Magistrate other members of the ODS were also back. Hudeček then officiated as acting as mayor and had the beginning of June in this function cope with the flooding. On June 18, 2013, TOP 09 and the Social Democrats agreed on the toleration of a minority Magistrates of the TOP 09 and Hudeček nominated for the position of mayor. Hudeček was then officially elected on June 20, 2013 with 36 votes out of 43 votes on the new " Primátor " the Czech capital.
