Tommaso de Vigilia

Tommaso de Vigilia (active from 1444 to 1497 in Palermo) was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance in Sicily.

About his education is not known. From 1444 he was active in Palermo, his studio is documented from 1451 in the neighborhood Seralcadi (now Capo ). His earliest work is the proven signed by him and dated 1460 panel painting "Scream Bender John the Evangelist ," which is today in the possession of the Palazzo Abatellis. Vigilia has been identified as an employee from the master of the famous fresco " The Triumph of Death " at the Palazzo Abatellis. Many of his works were lost, including the considered his masterpiece called triptych " Madonna Enthroned with Saints Agatha, Lucia, Joseph and Caloger " of 1486 and be " the Temple of Mary " for the high altar of the Cathedral of Palermo.
