Tor Edvin Dahl

Tor Edvin Dahl ( born September 10, 1943 in Oslo) is a Norwegian writer and journalist. He also published under the pseudonym David Torjussen.

Life

Tor Edvin Dahl is the son of Joseph Dahl (1914-1995) and his wife Evy Alice Holmen (* 1915). He attended a teacher training college in Sagene and began after his graduation in 1967, a study of philology. This, however, he broke from the soon to be active as a literary critic for the newspaper Aftenposten as well as a freelance writer. His first book, the short story collection En summer maintenance av regn was published in 1968. 1973, the novel was published Guds tjener, which is considered his most important work. He is engaged in the Pentecostal movement, which included his parents, and has therefore greatly influenced him. 2006 and 2008 he published with Basunen and Miraklenes år two other novels that deal with the issue.

In 1973 he received the Literature Prize Gyldendals Legat as well as the published under the pseudonym David Torjussen detective novel Etterforskning Pagar the Riverton Prize. Under this pseudonym he wrote until 1985, eight other detective novels. In 1997, he published more crime novels under his own name.

He also wrote screenplays, children's books and non-fiction books, including two biographies of the preacher Aage Samuelsen and a book on Pentecostalism. He has also written textbooks for religious instruction. Overall, Dahl has published over a hundred books. He is thus one of the most prolific contemporary writers of Norway.
