Tosa school

The Tosa school (Japanese土 佐 派, Tosa -ha ) of Japanese painting, named after the artist's family Tosa, has evolved from the tradition of Yamato -e, but also took over style elements of the Kano school.

Overview

The Tosa artist family goes back to the 12th century, but only in the 15th century it appears under this name.
