Toulouse Metro

The Métro Toulouse, opened in 1993, is, as in Lille and Rennes automatic metro, based on the VAL system.

History

The first metro line from Toulouse ( line A) was opened on 26 June 1993, between Basso- Cambo and Jolimont after the construction work had begun in 1989. It is almost entirely underground, except for the Basso- Cambo station. 10 years later the line was extended by 2.3 km or 3 stops to Balma Gramont.

On June 30, 2007, a second route, the line B, the traffic was passed.

During the construction of both routes, there were numerous finds from the two thousand year history of Toulouse. Thus, the mentioned in historical sources Roman Forum could be localized near the Place Esquirol.

Line A

The first metro line is 12.3 km long and has 18 stations. It crosses Toulouse from southwest to northeast, from Basso Cambo to Balma Gramont, and was opened in 1993.

Line B

The second metro line is 15.1 km long, has 20 stations and runs from north to south, from Borde Rouge to Ramon Ville. It was inaugurated on 30 June 2007. Jean Jaurès is the interchange station for Line A.

Development and plans of the Metro

It is envisaged that the line B as free- range in the south by 5.2 miles and five stations ( Parc technologique de Ramon Ville - Centre Commercial de Labège - Innopole - Diagora - Labège -La Cadène ) to Labège - Innopole and in the north to L'Union extend. The extension to the south is to be opened in early 2019 (as of September 2013). For the northern connection there whose limited resources currently no timetable because of the priority development of the streetcar in the form of the line G has ( see below).

More light rail

Line C: S-Bahn from Arenes Metro Station west to Colomiers SNCF train station (5 stops), operated by the SNCF.

Line D: S-Bahn from Muret SNCF railway station in the south to Toulouse- Matabiau Central Station ( Metro Station Marengo SNCF).

T1 line ( during the construction phase line E ) tram from metro station Arenes north across Blagnac after Beauzelle (10,9 km, 18 stops), from the beginning of 2014 with the two guest Ligne Envol to Toulouse- Blagnac Airport.

Line F: S-Bahn (planned) from the train station Escalquens in the southeast to the Toulouse- Matabiau Central Station.

Line G: ( alternative name: Ligne Garonne) tram ( scheduled for late 2013) from Arenes Metro Station southeast to Grand Rond (7 stops). The graph on the right shows an older design of the line G.
