Tracuit Hut

The Cabane de Tracuit is an alpine refuge in the Valais Alps. It is located southeast of Les Diablons on the western edge of the Turtmann glacier at an altitude of 3'256 m above sea level. M. in the Swiss canton of Valais. Owner of the cottage is based in Aigle Chaussy section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC ).

History

The original lodge was built in 1929. Extensions were made in the years 1938, 1968 and 1981.

2012-2013 was built a new addition to the existing cottage, which was opened in June 2013. The old hut has since been demolished.

The new cottage offers 116 beds spread over several dormitories and some quadruple.

Rise

The shortest climb to the hut begins in Zinal in the rear of the Val d' Anniviers and takes about 4.5 hours.

Climbs

The Cabane de Tracuit is the starting point for ascents of Bishorn ( 4'153 m above sea level. M. ), White Horn ( 4'505 m) and Les Diablons ( 3,609 m).
