Trampoline (multihulls)

A trampoline referred to in multihulls a durable, water -permeable, coarse - or fine-mesh, woven or knit material. It performs a function similar to a deck. The trampoline between the hulls is flat and taut, to give the boat stability and strength and allows the crew to quickly and easily change from one side of the boat to the other. On the cloth that may for example consist of yarn or polyester, various claims are made, such as:

  • Aging and weather resistance (especially against ultraviolet radiation and salt water)
  • High train and abrasion resistance
  • Water permeability
  • Weight
  • Elegance

For sail catamarans the trampoline is also used to attach the hiking straps or sailing gear.
