Tranqueras is a city in the north of Uruguay.
Geography
It is in the area of the department of Rivera ( third sector) south-southwest of the eponymous capital of the department at the Ruta 30, is connected through the Tranqueras with the north western city of Artigas.
History
On 15 October 1963 Tranqueras was awarded by the 5335 Ley 's status as a villa.
Population and Demographics
The population is 7,235 (as of 2011), of which 3,607 male and 3,628 female. In 1996, 5,792 people were still counted ..

Infrastructure
Traffic
In traffic engineering point of view, the city is connected in addition to the previously mentioned road links via the Ruta 30 through the east of the city in a north-south trending Route 5 to the transportation network.
