Trans Europe Foot Race

The TranseuropaLauf (also TransEuropeFootRace Race ) is a stages ultramarathon, which runs through the whole of Europe. For the first time the event was held in 2003. From 19 April 2009 to 21 June 2009, the second event was held. Both competitions were organized by Ingo Schulze. The last TranseuropaLauf took place until October 21, 2012 from August 19.

TranseuropaLauf 2003

The first TranseuropaLauf took place from 19 April to June 21, 2003 and resulted into 64 daily stages without a day off from Lisbon to Moscow. The participants covered a distance 5036 km. The route led from Portugal through Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Belarus and Russia.

22 of 44 reported participants finished the race, including a wheelchair user. Robert Wimmer (GER ) won the race in 480 hours 29 minutes and 51 seconds. The fastest and the only woman in the target, Mariko Sakamoto (JPN ) needed, 785:23:15, the last participant, Koji Sekine (JPN ) finished the race after 788:36:27. The wheelchair Grojean Bernard ( FRA ) covered the distance in 469:32:12, but was not included in the score, but notes with his time in the result lists.

The idea of ​​a Europe running from west to east under a unifying theme, Manfred Leismann, a TransAm finisher. In Ingo Schulze, he found a successful organizer of Ultra - stage runs; he had previously organized the Spreelauf and Germany run. Together they founded the organization as a framework TranseuropaLauf eV with Ingo Schulze as the first and Manfred Leismann as the second chairman. Leismann explored the route, otherwise Schulze organized the event essentially alone. Numerous volunteers enabled the realization of the company. The club was disbanded after completing the task.

TranseuropaLauf 2009

The second run resulted Europe from April 19 to June 21, 2009 into 64 daily stages with 4487.7 km from Italy to Norway. The longest stage amounted to 95.1 km, the shortest stage 44 km, with an average mileage of 70.1 km. The TranseuropaLauf 2009 in Bari started and ended at the North Cape. He performs the countries Italy, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Finland and Norway.

45 of 67 reported participants finished the race, also a Tretrollerfahrer. Rainer Koch ( GER) won the race in 378 hours 12 minutes and 44 seconds. The fastest woman in the target, Takako Furuyama (JPN ) needed, 529:06:05, the last participant who Saeko Kishimoto (JPN ) finished the race after 722:46:02. The scooter driver Peter Bartel (GER ) covered the distance in 352:03:25, but was not included in the summary, it notes with his time in the result lists.

The event was attended to scientific studies of the extreme loads by a team led by Uwe Schütz, University of Ulm.
