Transaction Processing Facility
Transaction Processing Facility (TPF ) is a real- time operating system for the IBM mainframe and the System/360- the System z families.
TPF was developed from the Airline Control Program ( ACP) from IBM and several North American and European airlines. 1979, IBM introduced the operating system as a replacement for the now obsolete ACP one. Today's customers include Amadeus, Visa and Qantas Airways.
The operating system is used in the area of high availability, where the systems 24x7, ie 24 hours a day seven days a week must operate. Since the September 15, 2005 zTPF is currently in version 1.1.
