Transaction Processing Facility (TPF ) is a real- time operating system for the IBM mainframe and the System/360- the System z families.

TPF was developed from the Airline Control Program ( ACP) from IBM and several North American and European airlines. 1979, IBM introduced the operating system as a replacement for the now obsolete ACP one. Today's customers include Amadeus, Visa and Qantas Airways.

The operating system is used in the area of ​​high availability, where the systems 24x7, ie 24 hours a day seven days a week must operate. Since the September 15, 2005 zTPF is currently in version 1.1.
