Transaldolase
- OMIM: 602 063
- UniProt: P37837
Transaldolase (TAL ) ( gene: TALDO1 ) is that of the enzyme, which enables the transfer of a body C3 of sedoheptulose 7-phosphate to D- glyceraldehyde -3-phosphate and vice versa. This reaction equilibrium is an important part of the pentose phosphate pathway in all living things. Mutations in TALDO1 gene in humans can be used to ( rare ) Transaldolasemangel and this lead to cirrhosis. Variants of the enzyme may be associated with squamous cell carcinoma.
Some multiple sclerosis patients have antibodies to parts of transaldolase.
