Transition Records

Transition Records was an American jazz record label, which existed in the second half of the 1950s.

The short-lived record label Transition Records was founded in 1955 in Cambridge (Massachusetts ) by Tom Wilson. Within two years, appeared on the label ten LPs, including albums by Sam Gary, Sun Ra ( Jazz by Sun Ra), Donald Byrd ( Byrd 's Eye View), Cecil Taylor ( Jazz Advance ), Lucky Thompson ( Lucky Strikes! ) and Doug Watkins ( Watkins at Large ). Transition also sold some folk and classical music. The catalog was acquired in the late 1950s by United Artists, for the Tom Wilson worked as a producer at this time.
