Sam Gary
Sam Gary ( born February 19, 1917 in Florida; † July 20, 1986 in Aiken, South Carolina) was an African-American blues, spiritual and folk singer. Above all, through the years of collaboration with his more famous friend and co- musician Josh White, he became known to a wider audience.
As an ensemble musician ( bass singer ) Sam Gary was in the 1940s a member of Josh White and his Carolinians and the Almanac Singers, as soloist he has in 1956 - with the support of Josh White on guitar - own LP on the British label Esquire published, were also published by their receiving three EPs. The LP was released a year later in the USA on Tom Wilson ( the later with Columbia Records and Verve Records -down to fame Pruduzenten by Simon & Garfunkel, etc.) brought out former Transition Records.
