Transport Act 1962

The Transport Act 1962 was in 1962 erwirktes by the British government under the Conservative Prime Minister Harold Macmillan Law for the partial re-privatization of the railways.

The British founded the Transport Act 1947 Transport Commission ( BTC) was dissolved and established on 1 January 1963, the British Railways Board. British Rail had an accumulated deficit of approximately £ 500 million end of 1960. With the Transport Act 1962, the rail should be partially privatized. The Transport Act 1962, in practice almost immediate closure of one-third of the railways in the UK.

At the same time, the responsibility for the waterways to the British Waterways Board was transferred.
