Travelogue is the second studio album by British synthpop band The Human League. The album is the last in the occupation of Philip Oakey, Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware.

Formation

Two of the recordings of the album did not occur with co-producer Richard Manwaring at Monumental Pictures studio in Sheffield. Toyota City is a mono recording from 1978. The new recording of Being Boiled was created under the production of John Leckie for the Holiday '80 EP. In addition to original compositions and the music composed by Jeff Wayne Gordon 's Gin and originating from the pen of Mick Ronson and Scott Richardson Only After Dark on the album represented, with the British guitarist after the release of David Bowie's backing band the Spiders From Mars his first solo success achieved.

Reception

William Ruhlmann -reviewed the album for the music database Allmusic and thinks that hinwendeten the synthesizer textures of the band and Oakey 's mannered voice to a Poprichtung already at this time. However, much of this album would retain the strict tone of earlier synthesizer groups like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. Christian Graf says in rock music lexicon, the album also celebrates " the contradiction between man and machine in gently sweet and at the same time flashy, unorthodox melodies. " And alludes to the power station album The Man-Machine.
