Treaty of Paris (1303)

With the Treaty of Paris, concluded on May 20, 1303 between France and England, the peace between the two countries was restored. This peace lasted until 1337th

Prehistory

Under the Treaty of Paris ( 1259 ), there was an obligation of the reigning English monarch, with every throne ( both in England as well as in France) his lords to pay homage. Edward I came this obligation in the years 1272 and 1285; without even the French king to remember in homage to its obligations under the contract. 1294, the contract was broken .. 1294 occupied Philip IV Guyenne and said Eduard I. dominion over this land from. The English King Edward thereupon declared Guyenne ado to independent Allodgut and was determined to war.

The contract and the consequences

Philip IV could Guyenne but only until 1303. With the Treaty of Paris Edward I was awarded Guyenne next to the cities of Bordeaux and Bayonne. The oath of allegiance, to Edward I should do, was representative filed by his son Edward, who married the daughter of Philip Isabella.
