Treaty of the Bogue

The Treaty of Humen (Chinese虎门 条约, Pinyin Hǔmén Tiáoyuē ) was concluded on October 8, 1843 between Qing China and England and supplement the Treaty of Nanking of 1842.

He sets tariffs for certain commodities such as tea, silk, cotton, woolen goods, metals, ivory and alcoholic beverages. It also contains a so-called most favored nation clause, according to which all the rights that China grants third countries, England automatically be granted. Finally, British citizens have been exempted from the Chinese judiciary and subjected to their consulates.
