Treemapping
A Tree Map (English for tree map ) is used to visualize hierarchical structures that are here represented by nested rectangles. This vividly size ratios can be represented by the area of the rectangles is chosen proportional to the size of the data to be displayed unit.
History
Invented by this visualization form in the early 1990s, Ben Shneiderman, a professor at the University of Maryland. Because of lack of space on the hard drives of his server he was looking for a way to represent the largest square wasters in an intuitive and straightforward way.
