The Partito Autonomous Ista Trentino Tirolese ( German: Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party) is an Italian regional party. It sees itself as Christian Democratic Center Party, whose special concern is the autonomy of Trentino. The PATT, which was founded in 1948, until 2006 was part of the party alliance L' Unione.

History

The historical roots of the Partito Autonomous Ista Trentino Tirolese be on the movement Associazione Studi Autonomistici regionalization, short ASAR returned, called its heritage to the party. The ASAR, founded in September 1945, campaigned for the attainment of an autonomous status for the region Trentino -Alto Adige. 1947 was the movement to mobilize about 30,000 participants for a rally in Trent. On July 25, 1948, the majority of participants of the last Congress of the ASAR decided to convert to a party, the Partito Popolare Trentino Tirolese ( PPTT, German: Trentino Tyrolean People's Party).

The transformation of the movement into a party, and the elimination of some delegates who formed their own autonomist movement, led to a diminishing consent among the population. At the first regional elections on 28 November 1948, the PPTT received only 16.83 % of the votes and thus four regional deputies, while the Christian Democrats, which at that time represented the Italian Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi to the Trentino, came to 57.64 % of the vote.

In the following decades the governments of the region Trentino-Alto Adige and Trentino from the DC were dominated, in the provincial council in coalition with the South Tyrolean People's Party, with which it often led to tensions. Chairman of the PPTT at this time was Enrico Pruner, regional deputy with interrupts from 1952 until 1984. 's Strategic goal Pruners was a better understanding with the SVP, which is often seen as elder sister of the PATT and started for it to dissolve the autonomous region and all to transfer their skills to the two provinces of South Tyrol and Trentino, a goal that could be a threat to the continued existence of the autonomy of Trentino the PPTT opinion.

Mid-70s, the party renamed itself Partito Popolare Trentino per l' Unione Europea Tirolese ( PPTT - UE). The Unione Europea per l' ( for European Union) should underline its commitment to the European integration. In 1988, the party united with several other autonomist movements, new party name was Partito Autonomous Ista Trentino Tirolese, Party Secretary Carlo Andreotti.

1999 Lorenzo Dellai new governor and ruled first with a center-left coalition in which two other autonomist movements were represented. However, in the following years there were approaches to Silvio Berlusconi's coalition Casa delle Libertà, with the PATT in the parliamentary elections in 2001 came in a regional alliance. However, the PATT candidate Giacomo Bezzi was defeated by center-left candidate and following this defeat came the break with the center-right Alliance and the Regional Council for the coalition with the center- left coalition and the SVP. Under an arrangement with the SVP a PATT deputy was elected President of the Region for the period from 2002 to 2004 Andreotti.

In the provincial elections in 2003 the party formed a coalition with the center- left again and reached 9% of the vote, Dellai was, however, with over 60% of preferential votes again Governor.

In the 2006 parliamentary elections the party entered into a joint list with the SVP. Thanks to the electoral success of the center-left coalition L' Unione, to which the PATT and the SVP belong, was elected with Giacomo Bezzi for the first time a politician PATT into the Roman House of Representatives. In the election in 2008 this seat was lost again.
