Construction

Drive

It is driven by a motorcycle air-cooled two -cylinder engine. The transversely mounted in-line engine has a displacement of 865 cc and produces a rated power of 50 kW (68 hp) at an engine speed of 7400 min -1 and a maximum torque of 70 Nm at 5800 min -1. The two cylinders have a bore of Ø 90 mm in diameter, the piston has a stroke of 68 mm and a compression ratio of 10.2: 1

The four-stroke engine has two inputs per cylinder and two exhaust valves, which are actuated by dual overhead camshafts. The vibrations of the parallel twin can be reduced by two balance shafts. The mixture is prepared by a twin carburettor with throttle position sensor and electric carburetor heat. The 2 -into-2 exhaust system has a closed loop catalytic converter, the pollutant limits are below the emission standard Euro -3. Since the 2008 model year, there is an electronically controlled sequential multi -point fuel injection due to stricter emissions standards.

The average fuel consumption is 4.9 liters per 100 km. The fuel tank holds 16 liters and allows a theoretical range of 285 km. The bike accelerates in 5.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h and reaches a top speed of 200 km / h

Landing gear

The suspension geometry of the Thruxton was acquired by Bonneville. The chassis consists of a loop frame made of steel tube. The front wheel is guided by a telescopic fork with 41 mm Kayaba fork diameter and 120 mm of travel and delayed by a 320 mm disc with twin piston calipers. The rear suspension consists of a Doppelarmschwinge of steel tubing with two adjustable struts, compress the maximum of 106 mm. The drivable weight is 230 kg, the maximum load of 200 kg.

Reviews

" So what can the exclusive replica of a Café Racers of the 60s? Favor! It remains a beautiful, a fine motorcycle, the Thruxton. One that is attractive to look at and moved. And with its charm even non- motorcyclists (s) may beguile. "

"The model of the machine available from 8990 euros are the Spartan Cafe Racer with which so many illegal race was contested in the sixties. For the British bike is not created, however. Although the Thruxton comes as the strongest model of the Bonneville series with 50 kW/68 hp at the start, but with today's super athletes, they can not keep up. "

" A well-developed highways the Thruxton but then comes to its limits when you sometimes just want to overtake a car with 100 km / h herfährt not entirely ago. The simple twist of the throttle is not sufficient to accelerate really fast. Downshifting and the Twin rack up high tours, but you also do not want, because he turns up around rather rough. "
