Trollfest

TrollfesT (also TrollfesT ) is a Norwegian folk metal band.

History

Jostein " Troll Man" Austvik and John Espen " Mr.Seidel " Sagstad already knew each other since early childhood. Having lost contact at some point, they met after their school days in Oslo again, where Sagstad studied. Together with fellow students Sagstads Martin "Psycho Troll " Storm -Olsen and Eirik " Troll Bank" Renton TrollfesT was finally established spontaneously at a celebration. The first completed song was " Drekka Konkurranse ".

The band released their first album " Welcome Folk Tell Drekka Fest" on 15 March 2005 by German label Solistitium Records. The German name of the album is " Welcome to the people drinking hard ". The second album " Brakebein " was released on May 24, 2006 also at Solistitium, which had now, however, renamed Omvina. In Brakebein is a concept album, the whole hunting Brake leg is dedicated to after beer. Had their first live performance the band in 2007 on the " Barth Metal Open Air " in Germany.

The third album " Villanden " was released on 9 January 2009 on the German label Twilight Vertrieb. It was followed by the Ep Ancient elements, after which the cooperation was terminated with Twilight.

In January 2011, Trollfest signed a recording contract with NoiseArt Records. The fourth studio album, "En kvest for the hellige grail ", was released on April 22, 2011.

Initially founded just as a fun side project and the musicians to TrollfesT developed over the last years the main band.

Style

Music

Inspired by the Finnish band Finntroll, a unique style was developed which draws on many genres, such as humppa, Tango, Reggae, Ska and waltz. TrollfesT rely not on synthesizer, but on real folk instruments like acoustic guitar, accordion, trumpet, fiddle, mandolin and banjo as opposed to Finntroll. The musical style troll fests can best be described as folk metal, but has influences from almost all styles of Metals on, and can be assigned on the basis of humorous texts also the Fun Metal.

Especially on the newer albums Villanden and En kvest for the hellige grail is especially the Bulgarian folklore in the foreground.

Texts

The lyrics are humorous and in the fictional language of the trolls - Trollspråk - written, a language mix from various Scandinavian languages (especially Norwegian), and German. They act according to ex- bassist Psycho Troll primarily of celebration and drinking trolls who like priests or other people, particularly their "fat " women eat, or to fight for a free spot to celebrate.

The idea for Trollspråk evolved by chance. In the early days, the band decided to want to sing in German, because it is so " fierce " ( overgrimt ) sounds. However, since none of the band members really mastered the German language, began to be the lyrics to write relatively free of German grammar, and to replace missing German words by Norwegian. The fact that the texts thus often have only a very superficial and meaningless character, is in the opinion Trollmannens no further importance, since for him in a song, the music is more important than the text.
