The Trolltindene ( Bokmål ) or Trolltindan ( Nynorsk ), German troll summit, are a mountain range in Norway. It is known for its steep cliffs, especially up to 1000 meters high Troll Wall ( Trollveggen ) known.

Topography

The mountain is located south of Åndalsnes in the municipality of Rauma in Møre og Romsdal county. It separates the valleys Romsdal in the east and in the west Isterdalen. The mountains of the Trolltindene have rocky character and includes in particular the Romsdal out with steep rock faces. In the peak region, smaller glaciations occur.

The highest peak of the massif lies with the 1797 moh. high Breitinden in the south of the massif. The second highest peak is the Trolltinden Store ( Big Troll summit) with 1788 moh. in the north, the third highest of Trollryggen with 1740 moh. Between these two peaks extends on the east side of the Trollveggen.

Trollveggen

The Trollveggen ( Troll Wall ) is Europe's highest sea wall and extends about 1700 feet above the valley floor. The vertical part of the wall is up to 1000 m high and hangs up to 50 meters above. In 1965, the wall was first climbed by a Norwegian and English team within 14 days. The teams chose different routes, where the Norwegian team was a day earlier at the summit. The route of the English rope team, the Rimmon Route (difficulty UIAA V), but is now more popular as the increase. In 1974 it rose by a team led by Wojciech Kurtyka first time in the winter. Four years later she was first climbed free. Meanwhile, ten routes are known through the wall, most of them are great big wall climbing.

The wall was a popular starting place for base - jumper until after several deaths in 1986 was prohibited.
