True Path Party

The True Path Party (German for Yol Partisi Doğru, abbreviation DYP ) is a center-right oriented party in Turkey, which was founded in 1983 by Süleyman Demirel as the successor organization of the former Adalet Partisi. In 2007 she was renamed Parti Democrat.

The DYP was a moderately conservative party that has been involved since its inception in four governments, including under the Prime Minister Süleyman Demirel (1991-1993) and Tansu Çiller (1993-1996). After the electoral defeat of 2002, when the collection was missed in parliament, Tansu Çiller resigned as party chairman; Was succeeded by Mehmet Ağar. By crossings the DYP was but four seats in parliament represented (as of 20 July 2007).

Association and foundation

During the 2007 General Election a merger with Anavatan Partisi under the name Parti Democrat was planned. After the DYP had renamed the fusion but failed. Nevertheless, joined the Democrat particles, and not the DYP to the parliamentary elections.

2007 founded back former members of the party who did not agree with the renaming of the party.
