Tsakhur people

The Zachuren (also Tsachuren ) are a Caucasian people, now mainly in the north- west of Azerbaijan ( 15,900 ) and in Russia ( 12,769, of which 9,771 in Dagestan ) lives.

The Zachuren are predominantly Sunni Muslims and speak a Caucasian language ( Zachurisch or Tsachurisch or Zachigalisch ). You could get their traditions in Dagestan; in Azerbaijan, there are, however, tendencies towards assimilation.

In Dagestan the Zachuren represent one of the smaller indigenous ethnic groups (0.3% of the population). They live in the upper reaches of the river Samur. 82% of Zachuren live in the country, mainly in Rajon Rutulski. The largest zachurischen places in Dagestan are Zachur, Gelmez, Kurdul and Mikik. The settlement area in northern Azerbaijan lies in the Rajons Zaqatala and Qax. Your neighboring peoples are the Rutulen and Azerbaijanis.
