Tsalenjikha

Zalendschicha (Georgian წალენჯიხა ) is a town in the region of Samegrelo - Zemo Svaneti in the west of Georgia. It lies about 220 meters above sea level at the river Tschaniszqali and has 8900 inhabitants ( 2002). Since 1964 Zalendschicha owns the municipal law.

The name of the town goes back to the people " Zani ", which is to have once lived in the area. This area was already inhabited by various historical sources in the Stone Age.

Not far from Zalendschicha located at Djvari the Enguri dam with the largest hydroelectric power plant of the Caucasus. It is also the highest arch dam in the world.
