Tschierva Glacier

The Tschierva (Romansh idiom in turkey Vadret because Tschierva, German literally " Hirschkuhgletscher " ) is a valley glacier in the Bernina Range in Graubünden. It has a length of 4.5 km and an average width of 1 km and covers an area of ​​6.5 km ².

The glacier is divided into two parts at the top of the cliff edge of Piz Scerscen ( 3'971 m above sea level. M. ) and Piz Umur. The eastern part has its origin on the steep western flank of Piz Bernina, while the western part takes its starting point in the deep cirque between Piz and Piz Roseg Scerscen to around 3,300 m.
