Tsutomu Hanahara

Tsutomu Hanahara (Japanese花 原 勉, Hanahara Tsutomu; born January 3, 1940) is a former Japanese wrestler. He was Olympic champion in 1964 in Tokyo in Greco-Roman flyweight.

Career

Hanahara began as a teenager at a high school with the rings. He then visited the Nippon Sport Science University in Tokyo, where he studied sports. During his studies he was able to devote full there the competition- even rings.

He focused on the rather less wringing in Japan Greco- Roman style. In 1961 he was the first Japanese flyweight champion and represented his country at the World Championships in Yokohama. He was there though defeat Mohammad Paziraye, a very strong wrestler from Iran, but was defeated by American John Richard Wilson and the Olympic champion Pârvulescu Dumitru from Romania and landed on the 6th Place.

In the next two years, he could not prevail in Japan against its strong competitors Koji Sakurama, Sadao Yamamoto and Masamitsu Ichiguchi and was not at the World Championships for use. However, he was nominated for the Asian Games in Djakarta flyweight. He lost the final against the Indians there Malwa and took 2nd place.

In 1964, the Games took place in Tokyo. Tsutomu Hanahara did everything he could to qualify for these games and managed this as well. He was then in the Olympic tournament in excellent shape and was charged with six convincing wins Olympic champion in Greco-Roman. Style flyweight, where he defeated Bulgaria in the finals Dumitru Pârvulescu and Angel Keresow.

In the years 1965 and 1966 he increasingly devoted himself to his studies and was not represented at the World Championships. But in 1967 he was back again at the World Championships in Bucharest. Here he started bantamweight. He won here in three fights, wrestled against Janos Varga of Hungary and Siavash Shafizadeh from Iran draw and defeated the local heroes Ion Baciu on points, which he finished in third place.

1968 resigned Tsutomu Hanahara and was henceforth employed as an instructor at the Nippon Sport Science University.
