TSV Gersthofen

The TSV Gersthofen is a sports club based in the Swabian town of Gersthofen in the district of Augsburg. It was founded in 1909 as Turnverein Gersthofen and graduated in 1934 with SV Eintracht Gersthofen TSV Gersthofen together. The club has departments in alpine sports, basketball, bocce, football, health, sports, handball, in karate, athletics and rhythmic gymnastics, in swimming, table tennis, gymnastics and volleyball. In addition, the TSV Gersthofen has its own marching band.

Football

The men's football team of the club was a member from 1957 to 1963 the first third-rate amateur league and was in season 1951/52, the Bavarian Cup champion. In the season 1980 /81 TSV Gersthofen participated so far the only time in the main round of the DFB Cup, but lost in the first round at home to the OSC Bremerhaven 0:1. In the season 2010/11 was achieved by a 3-1 win against SpVgg Selbitz the rise of the national league south into the Bavarian League, two years later, the TSV Gersthofen but rose again in the national league.

Since October 2005, the club assumes its games from the newly built sports arena, which was renamed in 2009 after its main sponsor " Abenstein Arena ".
