The TSV Hannover -Burgdorf than GmbH support the Handball Bundesliga team Hannover Burgdorf. The Hannover Burgdorf is a multi- division club. Particularly successful is the handball division. She is a member of the North German Handball Federation. She is known not only by the men's handball team playing in the 2009/2010 season in the 1st Handball Bundesliga, but also by the male and female youth teams. Home is the Lower Saxon town of Burgdorf near Hannover.

History

1922 Free Turnerschaft Burgdorf was founded with a first handball section. 1928 separated these in the dispute of the swimming department and entered the club Viktoria's of 1907. The first men's handball team was repeatedly Gaumeister, most recently in 1932. A year later the Free Turnerschaft was dissolved by the Nazis. The members were divided on the two Burgdorfer Clubs Victoria in 1907, and MTV in 1849, which merged in 1938 to Gymnastics and Sports Association from 1849 Burgdorf. After the Second World War, the handball team was one of the leaders in Northern Germany.

On January 13, 1946 today Gymnastics and Sports Association Burgdorf was founded. 1948 Burgdorf was district champion, directly after the rise in the national league (season Heide) to 1949 national champion. On promotion to the Niedersachsenliga but you had to do without for financial reasons. 1951 had to be severely limited due to lack of membership numbers game operation, TSV Burgdorf played only at the county level. A separate sports hall was inaugurated only in 1971. From 1978 to 1981, was in the youth field a gaming community with Empelde to allow the A-Juniors in county and league games. In 1986 the rise in the county league, one year later in the district class; before they played in the city league and below.

Then it went steadily uphill. It was followed by further rises in the Bezirksoberliga 1990, in the fifth division in 1994 and 1997 in the Regionalliga Nord, in which one was 2003 runner-up. 2005 promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga Nord, which was surpassed only by the re- promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2008 /09 season. Since the 2009/10 season thus Burgdorf plays in the German top flight.

On 19 February 2011, the relegation threatened club parted with immediate effect from his Icelandic coach Aron Kristjánsson, also sports director Stefan Wyss was dismissed. Successor of Kristjánsson was Christopher Nordmeyer, who was already as a player for 20 years for Burgdorfer in use.
