Tubod (Lanao del Norte)

Tubod is an independently managed community in the Philippine province of Lanao del Norte. It is also the seat of the provincial government of the province and is located on its western border with the neighboring province of Misamis Occidental located directly on the bay of Panguil.

Origin of the name

Tubod got its name from a source located in Sitio Baybay in Baranggay Poblacion. According to a legend, the source dries even in the longest drought of never. The name comes from the dialect Tubod Visayan, meaning "water source ".

Historians point out that especially Christian migrants from Luzon and the Visayas settled in this place.

History

The Republic Act No. 58 Tubod was dissolved on 17 October 1946, the mother church Kolambugan and appointed its own management community.

From this point, the economic development proceeded slowly, since the place had virtually no maintained roads. In the following years, as there was the municipal government in the district Baroy, the development of the community abducted on.

On June 10, 1949, with Executive Order No. 222, the district Baroy as an independent administrative municipality of Tubod has been disconnected. In the following years the road has been driven, and public markets and Kai were applied, which significantly contributed to the development of infrastructure.

On February 3, 1982, the seat of the provincial government of Lanao del Nortes from the city of Iligan City was moved to Tubod, whereby the municipality capital of the province was.
