Tullibody Old Kirk

The Tullibody Old Kirk, also Old Church of Tullibody, is a Romanesque church ruin in the Scottish city of Tullibody in Clackmannanshire unitary authority. In 1960, the building was added to the Scottish lists of monuments in the highest category A. It is also part of a monument ensemble of B. Finally, the system is protected as a Scheduled Monument since 1936. The surrounding cemetery is a monument of Category B.

History

The church dates from the 12th century, with one source specifies the founding year of 1149. In the 16th century it was rebuilt and renovated again in 1760 and changed. The seated bell tower dates from the year 1772. Recently, she was regularly used with the completion of the St. Serf's Church in 1904. 1916, the roof and the windows have been removed.

Description

The elongated building measures approximately 19 m × 7 m. The masonry is still preserved in full. The gable ends are made as gable. The two doorways date from the 16th century; of which the eastern from the year 1539. Similarly, the rectangular eastern window openings have been added at this time. The seated on the pediment surface, however small bell tower dates from the year 1772. Recently been added in 1824 or 1833 window openings and an entrance on the south side.
