Tungenes Lighthouse

Tungenes fyr is a lighthouse on the headland in the municipality Tungenes Randa mountain in Norwegian Rogaland. The first beacon there were already 1828th The current lighthouse was built in 1862 along with the southern neighbor farm buildings ( uthuset ). 1898, the lighthouse was rebuilt. 1938 they built the house of the lighthouse keeper ( fyrmester ).

During the German occupation of Norway from 1940-1945 was Tungenes part of the fortress Randa mountain. There were built the still preserved observation and gun emplacements. Up to 40 Wehrmacht soldiers were stationed here. In 1947 the farm building was demolished and rebuilt. The office building was built in 1957-1958. 1984, the beacon was taken out of service. Since 1998, the entire system is under a preservation order.

In the former farm building is now a small museum and the former offices café is housed.
