Tunisian constitutional referendum, 2002

A constitutional referendum was held in Tunisia on 26 May 2002.

The amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Tunisia included the abolition of the restriction of the possible periods of office of a President on 3 and increased the Alterschränkung for the incumbent President from 70 to 75 years. A second chamber of parliament (Chamber of Consultant) has been introduced.

The constitutional amendments were adopted according to official reports by 99.52 % of voters, with a turnout of 95.59 %. The opposition described the results as a masquerade.
