Turkcell İletişim Hizmetleri A.Ş., abbreviated as Turkcell, has a total of 64.8 million customers (as of end of 2011) the largest operator and the largest mobile phone company in Turkey and the third largest mobile phone companies in Europe.

In February 1994, Turkcell took the first GSM network in Turkey in operation. Turkcell in Turkey has 34.5 million customers and thus a market share of 53%, the rest is produced by the two competitors Vodafone Türkiye with 28 % and the Turk- Telekom subsidiary Avea with 20 % market share. Turkcell covers 100% of all Turkish cities with over 1,000 inhabitants and achieved 99.13 % of the total population. The network coverage reached 88.3 % of the total land mass of Turkey. The company had a turnover amounting to 9.8 billion Turkish lira in 2011.

Turkcell is the only Turkish company whose shares in ADR form ( ISIN US9001112047 ) on the New York Stock Exchange, the New York Stock Exchange, is traded. The largest shareholder is Turkcell Holding, with a total package of 51%. Other shareholders are Çukurova Holding with 0.05%, Sonera Holding with 13.07%, MV Holding 1.18 % and 34.70 % Free float (February 2012). In addition, Turkcell was from the Investor Relations Global Rankings ( IRGR ) as one of the five most transparent companies in Europe Award (as of 2010).
