Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı

Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı ( TPAO ) is a Turkish oil company headquartered in Ankara.

The company was created in 1954 on the basis of the law number 6327 to represent the national interest in the areas of exploration, drilling, production of crude oil and its derived products such as gasoline. By 1983 the latter was discontinued.

Activities in the oil sector

As an important Turkish company TPAO employs in the year 2006, approximately 4,000 employees who earned about 3.5 billion U.S. $. 2005, the company had reserves of 558 million barrels of oil equivalent, with an expected increase to 1.5 billion barrels by 2010. 2005, the production of 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day.

Subsidiaries ( as of 2010)

Turkish Petroleum International Company Ltd.. ( Tpic ) was founded in 1988 in Jersey and is primarily in Iraq and Colombia (since 2007) operates. Since February 2008 tpic works with the Colombian company Ecopetrol together in the search for oil in the Catatumbo Basin. In addition to operating in a lesser extent, Kazakhstan, Syria, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Egypt, Algeria and Russia.

Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company Ltd.. ( TPOC ) founded in 1996 in Jersey, and holds interests in two projects on the Azerbaijani side of the Caspian Sea, Libya Ghadames Basin, Sirte basin and Mourzuk Basin, and the Black Sea.

Turkish Petroleum BTC Ltd.. ( TPBTC Ltd. ) Was founded on 20 February 2002 in the Cayman Islands holds 6.53 percent stake in the Baku -Tbilisi -Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.

Turkish Petroleum Ltd. SCP. ( TPSCP Ltd.). Shortly thereafter was founded on May 24, also in the Cayman Islands and holds 9 percent in the South Caucasus Pipeline.

KazakTurkMunai Ltd.. Joint Company ( KTM) has been active since 1993 in Kazakhstan.
