Turun Toverit

Turun Toverit ( German comrades Turku / comrades; abbreviated TuTo ) is a Finnish sports club from the south-western Finnish city of Turku. It was founded on 20 October 1929. The club is best known for its hockey department, under the name TuTo Hockey currently in the second highest league, the Mestis, plays.

In the 1970s, the two city rivals TPS and TuTo played in the highest league. 1973 attracted both teams in the Kupittaan Jäähalli, in the TuTo with short interruptions plays today. TPS plays since 1990 in much larger Turkuhalli.

Three TuTo players were already at the Olympics in use: Urpo Ylönen 1964 and 1968, Karl Johansson 1968 and Seppo Lindström 1968 and 1972.

Football

In 1947 the club was Finnish runner. As a representative of the workers' sports association TUL TuTo took place at the final round of the championship and was beaten 2-3 in a tight playoff HIFK Helsinki. Currently ( 2010) plays the club in the Finnish third division.

In 1952 with Olavi and Jorma Laaksonen Vaihela TuTo two players participate in the Olympic football tournament for Finland. Other national players were playing for TuTo Tommy Lindholm, Turkka Sundbäck, Rainer Forss, Turkka Tamminen, Armas Niemi and Allan Möller.

Athletics

From the club several successful athletes emerged: Thus, the two-time Olympian Voitto brightest and Pentti Rekola as well as the hurdler Jussi Rintamäki were members of the TuTo.

In addition to ice hockey, football and athletics, the club also offers rings, table tennis, basketball, gymnastics, volleyball and bowling.
