TW -6 (Russian ТВ -6) was a Russian television channel, which was from January 1993 to January 2002 in operation.

History

In the beginnings of Closed Joint Stock Company " Moscow Independent Broadcasting Corporation TW -6" were the Russian Eduard Sagalajew and the American media magnate Ted Turner. In June 1999 the Russian media tycoon Boris Berezovsky acquired 75 percent of the shares of TW - sixth

When the Russian television station NTV, probably, came in April 2001 because of its critical reporting to the attention of state authorities and lost its independence, Berezovsky invited the dismissed NTV journalists to continue their work at TW -6. In May 2001, known for its critical stance Yevgeny Kiselyov was a television journalist (formerly with NTW ) elected Director General of TW -6. Many other former NTV journalists come to TW -6, including Mikhail Osokin, Vladimir Kara- Murza, Svetlana Sorokina and Viktor Shenderovich. In a short time, thus became one of the most popular Russian television stations from the former outsider TW -6.

A little later the Russian state, as before against NTW, even against TW -6 begins a campaign under the pretext of punishing legal financial irregularities. Formally, the process for resolution of the TV station will be opened at the behest of the oil company Lukoil, which holds some shares in TW -6. On 11 January 2002, a Russian court orders the dissolution of the television company TW -6.
