Twelve Girls Band

Nüzi shere Yuefang (Chinese女子 十二 乐 坊/女子 十二 乐 坊, Pinyin Nǚzǐ Shier Yùefǎng, Eng. Twelve Girls Band ) is a Chinese music group whose all-female cast of traditional Chinese instruments playing modern pop music and traditional Chinese music with a modern interpretation. All members are drawn from music elite schools of the People's Republic. As the name suggests, are always twelve musicians on stage, but there have been some members changed. The band was formed on 18 June 2001 in Beijing, they gave their first concert on October 5, 2001 at the Beijing Century Theater. Since then the group has become very popular in the People's Republic, but also in Japan, where their first album was sold within two months about a million times. On her big Asian tour in 2004, they gave concerts in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong.

The Group mainly uses the following traditional Chinese elements: erhu ( bowed instrument ), pipa (Chinese lute), guzheng (zither ) and dizi Yangqin (flute).
