Tychowo ( German name till 1937: Wendish Tychow, then: Tychow ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the rural community Sławno ( Schlawe ) in a circle Sławno.

Geographical Location

Tychow located nine kilometers southeast of the county town Sławno ( Schlawe ) in the province road No. 209 ( Sławno - ) Warszkowo (Alt Warschow ) - Suchorze ( sugar) - Kolczyglowy (Alt Kolziglow ) - Bytów ( Buetow ). Place name

The place name or Tychowo (Wendish ) Tychow derives from the Sorbian word meaning " peace ", " tranquility ". History

The area around Schlawe (Polish: Sławno ) was situated already inhabited 4000 years before Christ or occasionally occupied, as for Tychow urn remains and grave sites at Rauhen mountain ( Chropa Wiec ). The first written record dates from 1229, confirmed as Duke Barnim I of the Order of St. John the ownership of Wendish Tychow. After the Order of St. John had given up his possessions to Schlawe, the fief passed to the family von Bonin ( 1409: " Hennynk Bonyn " 1453: " Teslaf Bonin to Tichowe "). Due to a contract on the exchange between Duke Bogislaw X with the Chancellor Jürgen von Kleist, the place came in 1509 in the possession of the von Kleist and has remained so until 1945.

Parish
