Tyndale Bible

Tyndale's Bible translation (English Tyndale 's Bible translation ) is the name for the English translation of the Bible which was published by William Tyndale since 1525.

Translation

The young English theologian William Tyndale began in the 1520s, to translate the Bible and to print. As for his work no approval of the English king and the Catholic Church, he left England and worked on the translation in German-speaking lands. The majority of William Tyndale's life was marked by this work. In order to escape imminent arrest, he changed several times his whereabouts. Nevertheless, he managed to have it printed its gradually translated English Bible texts throughout his life. Used in his translation of Tyndale the original Greek text of the New Testament and the Hebrew text of the Old Testament, the Vulgate and the King James Version.

1525 he was in Cologne print the New Testament. The pressure, however, had to be stopped because Tyndale was threatened with arrest. So this version is sufficient only until the middle of Matthew 22 The holder is equipped with edge Bemerkungenen as well as a foreword.

1526 succeeded Tyndale at Worms, to let his New Testament for the first time fully printed. In this issue was less space for remarks because of their smaller size. Even the preface was omitted.

In 1530 he had the first time print his translation of the Old Testament. It is equipped with marginal notes and prefaces.

Approximately published in 1531 Tyndale then the book of Jonah. This text also has a foreword by Tyndale, but no marginal notes. The Book of Jonah was that the Reformers a special meaning, even Martin Luther had published it in 1526 as separate fonts.

1534 Tyndale published a revision of his New Testament, which is equipped with prefaces.

A year later, Tyndale was arrested and executed in 1536. It is unclear how far he had come before his detention with the translation and whether he had in custody an opportunity to continue working on the translation.

1537 published the Matthew Bible, in the book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the book of Ruth, the first book of Samuel, the second book of Samuel, the first book of Kings, the second book of Kings, 1. Chronicles and the 2nd book were printed to the Chronicle. From David Daniells view these biblical books are also Tyndale's work.

Tyndale's Bible translation was incomplete, but nevertheless forms the original text of the English Bible.
