Ubaye

Upper Ubayetal

The Ubaye is fed by glacier water whitewater river in France. It rises in the French part of the Cozie Alps, near the Italian border and breaks in its course with a steep gradient through the valley of the Durance. In the lower reaches the Ubaye flows through a narrow gorge.

Tourist

The Ubaye is a kayak whitewater river with sections in significantly varying difficulty. In the upper part to les Thuiles the difficulties are moderate. From about les Thuiles take this to significantly increase and in a short section between gefällstarken la Fresquière and le Martinet up into the upper portion of whitewater difficulty scale. After that, the difficulties increase somewhat and then increase from le Lauzet in the lower canyon ( Royal - Gorge ) significantly to the edge of the Befahrung possibility. At the end of the gorge the Ubaye is dammed, where they in the Durance - opens dam of Lac de Serre- Ponçon.

In the mountains of the upper reaches winter sport is played.
