Udo Weilacher

Udo Because Acher (* 1963 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German landscape architect, university professor and author.

Life

Udo Weilacher trained as a landscape gardener and studied from 1986 to 1993 landscape architecture at the Technical University of Munich and, sponsored by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in Los Angeles. At the Technical University of Munich, he graduated in 1993 as a graduate engineer in landscape architecture and is practically working in the office "Because Acher Landscape Architect" in cooperation with the freelance landscape architect Rita Weilacher since 1995. According to scientific staff activities since 1993 at the University of Karlsruhe and ETH Zurich with Professor Dr. Dieter Kienast, he received his doctorate in 2001 at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich with distinction " Dr. sc ETH Zurich ". 2002 he was appointed to the Chair of Landscape Architecture and Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape of the Leibniz University of Hannover, where he established Germany's first Assistant Professor of Theory of current landscape architecture. The Faculty of Architecture and Landscape, he headed between 2006 and 2008 as dean. Because Acher was appointed in April 2009 at the Technical University of Munich to take over there, in the footsteps of Professor Peter Latz the chair of landscape architecture and industrial landscape.

Because Acher research since 1993 on the connection between landscape architecture and design, fine art and garden art history and examines the development of current landscape architecture in Europe. This led to numerous publications and beyond Emscher to his election to the panel of experts of the Land Art Gallery Mechtenberg in the Park International Building Exhibition (IBA ) between 1997 and 1999 and his appointment as a board member in the Fritz Schumacher Prize of the prestigious Alfred Toepfer Foundation in Hamburg. Udo Weilacher is the author of numerous papers and books on the subjects mentioned above and wrote between 1999-2003 regularly in the monthly magazine, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung NZZ Folio to current landscape architecture.

Udo Because Acher is a member of the Deutscher Werkbund ( DWB), the Federation of German Landscape Architects ( bdla ) and the German Society of Garden Art and Landscape Association ( DGGL ), as well as co-founder and consultant of landscape architecture gallery AedesLand in Berlin since 2006. He joined in 1995 as a garden - landscape architect and member of the chamber of Architects (Baden- Württemberg, Lower Bavaria) and participates in various design advisory German cities as well as an expert in numerous international competition and peer review process with.
