Ufgau

The Ufgau is a historical region in Baden- Württemberg, which extends from the Oos on the lower reaches of the river Murg to the Albgau.

The Frankish Ufgau between Alb / Oos and Rhine / Black Forest, on the south by the Ortenau ( Offenburg and Achern ), but belonged to the diocese of Speyer, while the Ortenau belonged to the diocese of Strasbourg. Today's cities in the historic Ufgau are, inter alia, Baden -Baden, Rastatt and Karlsruhe.

  • Conrad I († 997), and his grandson, Duke of Swabia ( Conradines )
  • Adalbert ( 1041 mentions )
  • Reginbodo I. ( 1057 mentions )
  • Reginbodo II (1110-1115 mentioned); both were members of the Frankish noble family of Reginbodonen
