The Kilombero is a river in southern Tanzania, in the administrative region of Morogoro. It has its headwaters in the southern Kipengere Mountains and the northeastern adjacent thereto Lichinga Plateau in the north of Mozambique. It flows in the Selous Game Reserve with the Luwegu together. From then on called the Rufiji waters.

On Kihansi, a tributary of the Kilombero a power plant produces 180 kW. The water of the Kilombero used extensively for irrigation of rice crops in the Kilombero Valley in such a way that it almost a third of the year into its lower parts no more water.
