Ulf Findeisen

Ulf Findeisen ( born March 2, 1962 in Zschopau ) is a former German ski jumper who was active from 1983 to 1990.

Career

Findeisen started on the student and youth ski jump in Wünschendorf with the ski jumping. Among his first coaches was his father Christian. At age 13, he moved to Upper Wiesenthal and trained at the local SC tractor under Joachim Wintry among other things, Jens Weißflog.

In 1983 he took part in the first World Cup competitions. He was also placed three times in the top ten and missed in Gstaad, Switzerland in fourth place just short of the podium. This season, he could also be the first time DDR master on the large hill. In the following season he was able to confirm the good results and repeated his success at the national championships. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1984, he won with the team the GDR, the silver medal in the team. In 1985 he was East German champion on the normal hill.

When playing at home in Upper Wiesenthal in 1986 he was able to celebrate his first World Cup victory. His most successful season was Findeisen 1986/1987, when he finished third at the Four Hills Tournament behind Ernst Vettori and Vegard Opaas. As a third party, he could win his first podium of the season for jumping in Garmisch -Partenkirchen. A short time later, he jumped in the Czech Štrbské Pleso to his second World Cup victory. In the overall World Cup, he finished the season in twelfth place.

In the following years he was not able to perform well and ended his active career in 1990. Since this time, Ulf Findeisen is as ski coach active in his native city Zschopau and supervised there including the young German Springer Erik Simon.
