Uludere

Uludere (Kurdish: Qilaban or Keleban ) is a Turkish district town in the province of Şırnak Province in Southeastern Anatolia. The town has 9,365 inhabitants and the county 37 022 (as of 2011 ). Uludere is located in the southeast of the province, bordering Iraq. Since June 27, 1957 Uludere is a district and was up to May 16, 1990 of the province of Siirt. Qilaban is the original name of the village. Uludere means something like Mighty Bach.

Air strike

During an attack the Turkish Air Force by two F-16 machines on 28 December 2011, at least 34 villagers died that were held for terrorists. It should, however, have acted to juvenile smugglers. Criminal penalties had the incident not (as of June 2013).
