Unawatuna

Unawatuna is a beach town on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka near Galle. Unawatuna is located in the southern province.

The place was founded by Dutch traders, it was at first mainly port of call of many backpackers and but was now discovered by tourists of all stripes.

When a tsunami on 26 December 2004, the Unawatuna Bay was one of the hardest-hit areas of the south coast.
