Uncompahgre National Forest

The Uncompahgre National Forest, a 4000 km ² large National Forest in the southwest of the U.S. state of Colorado in Gunnison County, Hinsdale, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel. It is bordered on the south by the San Juan National Forest. The forest is divided in two parts, the Uncompahgre Plateau and the San Juan Mountains. In Umcompahgre National Forest are also the three wilderness areas Umcompahgre Wilderness, Mount Sneffels Wilderness and Lizard Head Wilderness.
